It is a matter of great honour for me to send my greetings to Bangladesh Association of Psychiatrists (BAP) on the occasion of 11th International Conference on Psychiatry (ICP) and 13th SAARC International Psychiatry Conference 2022, Bangladesh cosponsored by World Psychiatric Association (WPA), SAARC Psychiatric Federation (SPF) and Asian Federation of Psychiatric Associations (AFPA).
This is an important meeting in the region and is taking place from 29-30 September 2022 in Chattogram, Bangladesh. The theme of this year’s conference is “Mental Health Care in Today’s World: Challenges and Preventive Strategies”.
Bangladesh Association of Psychiatrists (BAP) & SAARC Psychiatric Federation are active societies of World Psychiatric Association and are well-known for organising educational and academic meetings and this conference is a valuable addition to the list of its successful efforts in this regard.
The theme of the conference, “Mental Health Care in Today’s World: Challenges and Preventive Strategies”, is very important and relevant to current practice of psychiatry especially during and post Covid 19 pandemic. I am pleased that the meeting also plans to cover other important topics of interest covering entire field of mental health with a strong focus on the issues of practice of psychiatry in low income and developing countries.
Links of Bangladesh Association of Psychiatrists with World Psychiatric Association (WPA) emphasize the important role of Bangladeshi psychiatrists in the regional psychiatry. BAP has also been active especially in establishing contacts with neighbouring countries by promoting exchange of professional expertise in our region.
The presence of several eminent speakers from all over the country along with a number of academic and clinical psychiatrists from other countries highlights the importance of this academic activity. I am glad that this conference is also looking at strengthening collaborations among different mental health professionals. This will indeed prove beneficial in improving our links with these groups.
I wish the organisers and the participants of this conference a big susses and happy stay in Chattogram, one of the beautiful cities of Bangladesh.
